Banana Bread Smoothie

So this is the perfect smoothie for a happy tummy as bananas are a digestive aid as well as a mood enhancer due to the serotonin they release in the brain. They’re also high in Vitamin C, fibre (12% of DV) and vitamin B6 which is essential for a healthy nervous system and helps to metabolise food.

This recipe also includes walnuts which have been part of our human diet for thousands of years providing rich sources of nutrients that are energy dense.  They are made up of 65% polyunsaturated fats (the most abundant one is an omega-6 fatty acid called linoleic acid), as well as 15% protein. Furthermore, walnuts provide high amounts of antioxidants that support the immune system.  Whilst Walnuts are high in calories – they are excellent for a healthy heart, brain and promote a healthy gut too. What’s not to like!

Ingredients

1 Banana

2 tbsp ground linseed

2 tbsp almond butter

400 ml almond milk

Pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg

2 broken walnuts (to top after blending)

Directions

  1. Place ingredients in high-speed blender and blend until smooth.
