In late 2019 The Cooking Academy welcomes Coloplast Medical to our Cambridge venue for a ‘Ready, Steady, Cook!’ style event to bring the whole team together with a Mediterranean twist!
Coloplast is a global company employing about 11,000 people and they specialise in intimate healthcare. Mary Richardson from Coloplast embarked on finding a team building event which would get everyone engaged, have fun and come away with some stronger bonds between team members. Coloplast’s UK office is based in Peterborough making Cambridge an ideal choice to get staff out of the office without traveling too far.
Mary chose a Spanish themed menu for her event which was full of all the favourites including gazpacho salad, potatas bravas and traditional paella. These were all dishes her team would know of, but had they ever cooked them under pressure?
The event began with a presentation on ‘The Science of Food’ led by our founder and food scientist, Kumud Gandhi which covers the spice trail and an introduction to the ingredients and recipes the group will be challenged to cook.
With the delegates primed and ready to go the task was announced, the group was split into five teams and challenged to cook a three-course Spanish meal and compete for the accolade of best team. Over the next 1.5 hours teams had to organise, plan and cook their meals testing their leadership and teamwork skills, to complete their task and achieve the top spot on the leader board.
After tucking into the fruits of their labours, the star chef was announced, and the loosing teams went away with a wooden spoon as a memento of their day.
