An Introduction To Cooking Class

Overview

Are you new to cooking? Or do you feel like you want to gain confidence and start with the basics?

Cooking is an essential life skill that can be learnt any stage in life. Whether your just embarking on cooking for yourself or a young adult transforming into a budding chef, we’ll teach you how to cook with confidence. The class is entirely hands on and taught in small groups, so you develop and practice with guidance from our expert chefs and produce your own meals that you can share with your family and friends.

You will learn fundamental skills such as chopping, slicing and dicing, get to know your brunoise to your batons and confidently use knives to make cooking easy. You will make a number of delicious yet simple dishes to create a selection of recipes you can use on a weekly basis.

You will be cooking with a variety of meats, vegetables, pulses and grains to broaden your experience of all food types and flavours. You will learn a range of techniques, such as boiling, poaching, frying, roasting and steaming. You will learn to cook perfect rice in 10 minutes – steamed, boiled or stir-fried.

You will also learn to cook other dishes such as a sizzling stir fry, chilli con carne, a tomato, olive, garlic pasta sauce and a tasty bread and butter pudding.

As each student will be cooking their own dishes most classes can be tailored to be vegetarian, vegan and gluten free.

Itinerary

You’ll learn to cook a wide range of exciting dishes using fresh easy-to-buy ingredients with great nutritional value. You’ll also discover the many medicinal benefits of herbs and spices.

  • All the ingredients and equipment is provided, all you need to provide is yourself!

I have an intolerance, allergy or other dietary requirement?
We pride ourselves on catering for every student in our classes and recipes can be adjusted for your requirements. Just let us know well ahead of your class or contact us to talk about it in more detail.


I don’t like spicy food; will this class be too hot for me?

In all our classes each student will cook their own meals, so although we provide guidelines, you can adapt each recipe to suit your taste.

Is lunch provided?
Yes, lunch is provided (and cooked by you!). If you have any special dietary requirement, please make those known to us at the time of your booking.

Is there parking available on site?
Yes, there is ample free parking available on site.

Is there anything I need to bring to the class?
Yes, you will need to bring some tupperware/plastic containers with you to take home some of the delicious recipes you will cook on the day. Everything else, including an apron cookware and ingredients will be provided.

Will I have my own cooker and cook my own recipes?
Yes, you will be cooking on your own hob and will be making the recipes individually tailored to your palate and preference.

Can I bring a spectator with me?
I’m afraid not. All attendees must be paying participants in the class.

If I purchase this cookery class can the recipient exchange it for another class of their preference?
Yes, vouchers can be exchange for other classes, if there is a short-fall in the value, they can pay the difference. If the voucher is for a greater amount they will be able to make purchases on the day to use up the full value of the voucher. Alternatively, you can purchase an open voucher that can be redeemed against any class of the equivalent value.

What is the minimum age to attend a class?
Anyone from the age of 11+ can attend our cookery classes, if you’re not sure which class would be best please do call us on 01923 778880 so we can help.

What should I wear/take with me to the course?
Please wear comfortable clothes and comfortable shoes. Please do not wear any open toed shoes or flip-flops for health and safety reasons.

Do you have facilities to purchase equipment on the day?
You will be able to purchase a good selection of equipment that you will use in the class, as well as a variety of spices.
