OUR COVID-19 STRATEGY

Covid policy – updated 29th November 2021

Following the latest government update, from 30th November 2021, we kindly ask our customers to wear a face mask on arrival until they are seated at their cooking stations.

We have been back at our regular schedule since the 12th April 2021, and our classes are running as normal. We have applied an extension to all (in person) vouchers purchased in 2020, so if you are unsure whether your voucher is still valid, please give us a call on 01923 778880 or email us cook@thecookingacademy.co.uk. If we can assist in any way, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

A week prior to your class we will send you a Covid Compliance Document through Google forms.  Please ensure this document is completed with 24hrs of receipt.

Throughout the pandemic, the health and safety of our customers and the team at The Cooking Academy has been of utmost importance to us.

Based on government advice, the protocol we have put in place includes the following and we will be continuously reviewed after each update:

  • The day before your class, our chef will take a lateral flow test to confirm their Covid status and we ask our customers to also take a lateral flow rapid Covid Test and confirm the result with us before the class is attended.
  • Unless exempt, you must wear now a face covering on entry and around our spaces (including when you get up to wash hands and go to the bathroom), and can choose to remove it once seated i.e. when cooking, eating and drinking.
  • We will take your temperature on arrival.
  • Our class sizes are set at 6 people which allows one meter plus between households.
  • We continue to have elevated hygiene steps in place with increased cleaning of surfaces and your hands on entry, including antibacterial hand gel at each cookery station. All the equipment you will be using during the class has been sanitised for your use.
  • Each delegate will have their own separate cooking stations as was previously the case.
  • We ask that you scan the QR code upon entry for the purposes of track and trace. If you have booked for a guest to join you on a cookery class or private event please let us know their names and number to capture to avoid having to contact you. You are required to download the NHS Track and Trace app prior to your arrival at The Cooking Academy.
  • If you are experiencing symptoms associated with Coronavirus 24hours prior to attending your class you will be unable to attend the class to ensure everyone’s safety.

We also continue to offer our online classes both for customers and corporate clients, please click here for more virtual customer classes and click here for virtual corporate events.

Once again thank you for your continuing patience, understanding and support during these challenging times.

We look forward to meeting you.

FAQs

Do we have to wear a face mask? As per government guidelines it will be mandatory for you to wear a face mask on arrival until you have completed our sanitisation routine and are seated at your station  where you can remove your mask for the duration of the experience.

Will hand sanitiser be provided? Yes we have personalised hand sanitiser available for everyone on every cooking station

Will we need to wear gloves? No, we ask that you do not wear gloves. As recommended by the WHO, the use of hand sanitiser and washing of hands is more effective in the prevention of spreading the virus rather than wearing gloves.

Does everyone have to social distance? The kitchen is laid out in order for participants to respect social distancing rules. Our chefs will go round during the class to help customers while maintaining these guidelines to the best of their ability.

Will you be taking any precautionary tests on arrival? We will be taking everyone’s temperature with our contactless thermometer on arrival in order to limit the risk of spreading the virus. You will be required to wash and sanitise your hands upon arrival. Please be aware that if your temperature is above 37.5C we will not be able to allow you into the cookery school.
