As with all our smoothie recipes the focus here is on nutrition and taste. Along with some delicious and nutritious fruit we’ve added spinach which gives this smoothie its colour as well as an extra nutrient punch!
Strawberries are loaded with anti-oxidants and Vitamin C and bananas are a great mood food which shore up the amount of serotonin (the feel good chemical) that the brain can produce. Bananas are also high in Vitamin C, fibre and vitamin B6 which is essential for a healthy nervous system and helps to metabolise food.
Spinach is well known for its nutritional qualities and has remarkable abilities to restore energy, increase vitality, reduce oxidative stress and improve the quality of the blood. The depth of green means it’s high in polyphenols – which are excellent packed with anti-oxidants.
We’ve also added chia and linseed as their oils are recognised for their exceptional health benefits, helping to reduce our risk of heart disease and stroke, regulate blood pressure and blood sugar levels, and fight chronic inflammation.
- Linseeds are high in Omega-3 Fats so if you are a vegetarian or don’t eat fish, linseed seeds can be your best source of omega-3 fats.
- They are a rich source of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), a mostly plant-based omega-3 fatty acid
- ALA is one of the two essential fatty acids that you have to get from the food you eat, as your body doesn’t produce them. Studies have shown that the oil in linseeds prevent cholesterol from being deposited in the blood vessels of the heart, reduced inflammation in the arteries and reduced tumour growth.
Incorporate our strawberry green smoothie into your diet and get fighting fit!
