Established in 2010, The Indian cooking class is where the story began here at The Cooking Academy. Alongside her rich Indian heritage and descending from a long line of spice merchants, our founder, chef and author Kumud Gandhi has amassed years of experience in cooking fine Indian cuisine. Many people from all walks of life have enjoyed Kumud’s cooking which along the way has included some familiar names such as

Even if you already have some experience in cooking Indian food, we are confident there will be plenty to learn. If you are a beginner, we will make sure you have a solid foundation whilst making the class relaxed. We will demystify Indian cooking! Besides the knowledge of authentic dishes, you’ll have a lot more confidence with many other cookery techniques and shortcuts in the kitchen to make life easier when cooking.
We have a range of group classes available:
- Half day Indian cooking class – is perfect for those who want to learn the basics of Indian cooking in just a few hours.
- One day Indian cooking class – takes you through an even wider range of classic Indian favourites.
- Curries, Curries, Curries class – Learn to create a range of popular curries from scratch with our usual emphasis on fabulous flavours.
- Indian bread making – Indian bread is an essential part of Indian cuisine, often eaten alongside main meals as they are the perfect accompaniment for scooping up delicious curries or daals.
- Mogul Emperor’s Feast class – Dive in deep and learn about preparing highly sophisticated Indian meals. This is an advanced class. We suggest you attend the One Day Indian class and the Curries Curries Class to familiarize yourself with the cooking techniques of everyday Indian food and really understand curries as well as dry dishes, a full understanding of the spices as this will be vital to your participation.
- Cook like an Indian – Four part (Comprehensive Indian cookery class) – Session by session you will acquire new skills and techniques which will culminate in giving you the ability to create a stunning Indian banquet with ease.
Most of our Indian classes are suitable for vegetarians, vegans and those with gluten intolerance.
We also offer one to one and private classes which can be tailored to exact requirements.
