Half Day Beginners Indian Cooking Classes

Overview

In a world of Indian ready-meals and sauces claiming to be authentic join us and let us show you how cooking from scratch taste the best!  Now you can experience India’s varied and flavour-packed cuisine first hand, and learn the entire cooking process for a number of dishes from start to finish in just a few hours.

This is a short and sweet version of our One Day Indian Cooking class, but you’ll receive the same attention to detail and personalised tutoring.

We’ll give you an introduction to fundamentals of proper spice blending – so you have a complete understanding of the use of spices and the essence of Indian cooking – and you’ll still get to walk away with the wholesome, delicious food you have made at the end of the day.

This cookery class is a real hands-on experience for those of you who want to get down to some spice blending and understanding the essence of Indian food. Dishes covered include a chilli and fennel spice blend for chicken kebabs, Bombay potatoes, chana masala curry and the ubiquitous raita with a fresh and zingy side salad, providing the platform to build your culinary skills in all types of Indian cooking.

No previous cooking knowledge is needed, just a desire to cook and learn!

As each student will be cooking their own dishes most classes can be tailored to be vegetarian, vegan and gluten free.

I have an intolerance, allergy or other dietary requirement.
We pride ourselves on catering for every student in the class and we can adjust recipes for your requirements. Just let us know well ahead of your class or contact us to talk about it in more detail.

I don’t like spicy food; will this class be too hot for me?
In all our classes each student will cook their own meals, so although we provide guidelines, you can adapt each recipe to suit your taste.

Is lunch provided?
Yes, lunch is provided (and cooked by you!). If you have any special dietary requirement, please make those known to us at the time of your booking.

Is there parking available on site?
Yes, there is ample free parking available on site.

Is there anything I need to bring to the class?
Yes, you will need to bring some tupperware/plastic containers with you to take home some of the delicious recipes you will cook on the day. Everything else, including an apron cookware and ingredients will be provided.

Will I have my own cooker and cook my own recipes?
Yes, you will be cooking on your own hob and will be making the recipes individually tailored to your palate and preference.

Can I bring a spectator with me?
I’m afraid not. All attendees must be paying participants in the class.

If I purchase this cookery class can the recipient exchange it for another class of their preference?
Yes, vouchers can be exchange for other classes, if there is a short-fall in the value, they can pay the difference. If the voucher is for a greater amount they will be able to make purchases on the day to use up the full value of the voucher. Alternatively, you can purchase an open voucher that can be redeemed against any class of the equivalent value.

What is the minimum age to attend a class?
Anyone from the age of 11+ can attend our cookery classes, if you’re not sure which class would be best please do call us on 01923 778880 so we can help.

I’m beginner, what class should I do?
The class is small and taught by a professional chef, so all you need is a little cooking experience and our chef tutor will guide you through each of the recipes on the day. If you are completely new to cooking you may want to attend our ‘Introduction to Cooking’ class before others.

I am an experienced cook, are all the courses suitable for me?
This class is designed for a group with mixed abilities, whether you are a seasoned cook or not, we are confidant you will go away with new knowledge, skills and recipes. If you are experienced in Indian cooking you may want to attend our ‘Mogul Emperors Feast’ or ‘Curries, Curries, Curries’ class.

What should I wear/take with me to the course?
Please wear comfortable clothes and comfortable shoes. Please do not wear any open toed shoes or flip-flops for health and safety reasons.

Do you have facilities to purchase equipment on the day?
You will be able to purchase a good selection of equipment that you will use in the class, as well as a variety of spices.
