Coriander is both an herb in the fresh leaf form and a spice – as a seed or when ground. The seeds have a lemony citrus flavour when crushed, releasing a warm, nutty, spicy orange flavour. In Asian cookery ground coriander is a staple ingredient used extensively in most sauce bases and spice blends as it provides a strong grounding and earthiness to food.
Our coriander seeds are sourced from the Gujarat region of India and are harvested at 110 – 120 day of sowing. They are dried in partial shade to optimize the fruit and retain its natural yellowish green hue and its fragrance. Avoid buying if the seed is brown or beige in colour, as this suggests it is old or has been radiated.
