In a world of Indian ready meals and sauces claiming to be authentic join us! Let us show you how cooking from scratch tastes the best!

Thanks to our Half Day Indian Cooking Class you can experience India’s varied and flavour-packed cuisine first-hand. In addition, learn the entire cooking process for a number of dishes from start to finish in just a few hours.

This is a short and sweet version of our One Day Indian Cooking class, but you’ll receive the same attention to detail and personalised tutoring.

We’ll give you an introduction to the fundamentals of getting to know your spices and learning how to blend spices – so you have a complete understanding of the use of spices and the essence of Indian cooking. You’ll still get to walk away with the wholesome, delicious food you have made at the end of the day.

This cookery class is a real hands-on experience for those of you who want to get down to some spice blending and understanding the essence of Indian food.

The Menu includes:

  • Black pepper and garlic spice blend – a mixture of ground black pepper and minced garlic used to season various dishes, including fish and tofu masala.
  • Bombay potatoes – a popular Indian side dish made with boiled and cubed potatoes cooked in a blend of spices.
  • Masala chicken curry – a popular Indian dish made with chicken cooked in a spiced sauce.
  • Chana masala curry – a vegetarian alternative to masala chicken curry made with chickpeas cooked in a spiced sauce.

Most of our Indian classes are suitable for vegetarians, vegans and those with gluten intolerance.

The key difference to our classes is the focus on spices; you don’t just learn how to but also why and when to use spices. The full hands on experience enables you to use all your senses to discover your pallet and learn how to make a difference in taste. It’s fast, furious and fun! Just bring along your enthusiasm and a stomach for lots of food.

We also offer one to one and private classes which can be tailored to exact requirements. We will provide everything from the ingredients to the equipment and chef. Contact us directly to discuss a private class.

“I loved the class and the dishes we made. I don’t why I had such fixed ideas about Indian food – I’ve been stuck in a rut. It’s been refreshing to see how others cook and make it easy as well. My family loved all the dishes as well. Thank you again.”

I used Kumud’s recipes from the day for a family birthday celebration meal for 8 people and they went down very well!!!  I don’t think I would have had the confidence to have attempted anything on that scale without having attended the course.

“The Indian cookery class was pitched at just the right level. The tutor was excellent and she delivered the class at a good pace whilst still answering all of our questions. It was an excellent morning – a great environment and good to be in a small group”

“My son and I attended the Indian cookery class up at The Cooking Academy. The class surpassed my expectation – the atmosphere and spirit was highly motivating and the chef just seemed to be a complete foodie. I would highly recommend this cookery school to anyone who really wants to learn to cook.”
