Mango powder, also known as Amchoor, is a sharp tangy, fruity spice powder made from dried unripe green mangoes and is used as a natural dry citrusy seasoning.
It is a component part of Chaat Masala and is used in savoury dishes in Indian cooking, such as stir fried vegetable dishes, soups, curries, and to tenderise meat and poultry. It is used to add a fruit flavour without adding moisture particularly to street food recipes such as Papri Chaat, Bhel Puri, and Pani Puri.
