Terms & Conditions of booking Scheduled Cookery Classes – Consumer events
- Prices
The prices displayed on our website are correct to the best of our knowledge and maintained on a regular basis. In the event of an order being placed against an accidental incorrect price, we will endeavour to inform you of the error within seven days of the purchase being made. If the correct price was more than you paid, you may either cancel the booking or choose to pay the difference. If the correct price was less than you paid, we will refund the difference. - Availability
All classes are subject to availability and booked on a first come first served basis. In order allow flexibility with dates and to avoid disappointment, we recommend you do not organise travel or accommodation until the booking has been confirmed. We reserve the right to postpone or rearrange a course up to three days before it is scheduled to take place in the unlikely event that there are less than three attendees booked. Half day classes are usually scheduled to run Monday to Friday, unless booked for a private group booking and are subject to availability and price variation. - Event Duration
Details of event duration given on the website and elsewhere are a guide only. Classes are planned based on the times specified but naturally there may be delays, curtailments or breakdowns that are not within our control. You agree that we shall not be held liable for variations in event time and duration. - Validity of vouchers – In person cookery vouchers – purchased from The Cooking Academy are valid for a period of 12 months from the date of issue and the cookery classed must have been attended by the expiry date. A voucher will be deemed invalid if it is out of date (the voucher validity period is stated on each voucher). The validity of gift vouchers purchased via third parties (i.e. not from The Cooking Academy) is subject to the terms and conditions of that third party company. Should you need to extend the validity of your voucher then this must be done before the voucher expiry date (you must contact us on a working day to do organise this ie: Monday-Friday). The cost of extending the voucher is £30 for a half day voucher and £40 for a full day voucher which must be paid at the time of extending the voucher, whereupon the voucher will be extended for a further 3 months in which time the class must have been taken.
- You are unable to use an existing voucher to purchase a further voucher or any type of monetary voucher thereby extending the voucher validity date by a further period of time. Existing vouchers must be used to book either a One Day or half day class or can be used towards items in our spice shop within one year of the purchase date. Virtual cookery Vouchers – purchased from The Cooking Academy are valid for a period of 6 months from the date of issue and the cookery classed must have been attended by the expiry date . A voucher will be deemed invalid if it is out of date (the expiry date is stated on each voucher). The validity or otherwise of gift vouchers purchased via third parties (i.e., not from The Cooking Academy) is subject to the terms and conditions of that third party company. Should you need to extend the validity of your voucher then this must be done before the voucher expiry date (you must contact us on a working day to do organise this i.e.: Monday-Friday). The cost of extending the voucher is £10 which must be paid at the time of extending the voucher, whereupon the voucher will be extended for a further 3 months in which time the class must have been taken.
- Amendments to class bookings
If you are unable to attend the class you have already booked, and you inform us less with than 28 days’ notice prior to the class then we regret that your booking fee or voucher will be forfeited. However, we will offer you the following 3 options to try and mitigate your loss: 1. We will “open the gate” and give someone else the opportunity to book in your place. If we successfully book someone in your place, you will be able to move to a different date of your choice by paying the £25 admin fee. If we are unable to book your space then you will forfeit the voucher. 2. You can transfer your voucher to someone else and let us know in advance the details of the new attendee, such as name, email address, phone number and dietary requirements. In this case you won’t be able to attend in the future, as the voucher will be redeemed by the replacement attendee 3. We can add you to our short notice cancellation list. As and when a space becomes available due to a cancellation or spare place, we will contact you and offer you the place. This could be anywhere from 5 days prior to the class to 24 hours’ notice. - Unable to attend
If you are unable to attend due to Illness, or bereavement, this is also covered by the ‘amendment of booking clause’. If you have an infectious illness, sickness or diarrhoea within 48 hours before of the class you must notify us to safeguard the well-being of others. You will be unable to attend the class under such circumstances, and the above actions will be taken to mitigate your loss. However, it is a criminal offence to knowingly risk transferring diseases to others. Please seek guidance from your insurance provider for any financial loss as a result of your cancellation or change of date. All amendments to bookings including change of date attending will incur an administration cost of £25 per occurrence. - Rescheduling or cancellation of classes
In the unlikely event we need to reschedule or postpone a class for you for any reason, you will be offered alternative dates. Classes will not be refunded and you must seek compensation from your insurance company. In such an event, we will not be liable for the cost of travel expenses, pre-booked accommodation costs or any other indirect costs incurred. - Force Majeure
